Holiday in the Wild (2019)

Well, it's been awhile since I've reviewed - but this movie really resonated with me, so I thought, man do I need to share my thoughts on this one.  That's a lie.  I was texting my fellow movie critic, Mary Arendt, about how much she would like this movie (I was 20 minutes in) and she said, "If.this.doesn't.get.on.danilovesmovies.com....." (actual quote from iMessage) so multiple login attempts later with the famous Kelly Dunn's help - I'm here.

Holiday in the Wild is a fantastic new holiday Netflix movie starring Rob 'Why do I still look so good?' Lowe and Kristin 'I will forever be Charlotte York' Davis.  The movie starts with Charlotte - ahem - sorry, Kristin's character's husband divorcing her LIT-RALLY (an homage to Chris Traeger just feels right here, don't you think?) seconds after their son leaves for college (what a tool).

Little did the tool know, Kristin had planned a fantastic honey moon part deux in Africa, and she decides, fuck it, I'll go it alone cuz I'm an independent lady who was also a veterinarian at one point.  During her first evening at the fancy African hotel she's staying at, she runs into a handsome fellow played by Rob Lowe.  Soon she finds adventure - and eventually... love.

This movie was pretty much everything I wanted it to be and MORE (spoiler alert - there are a lot of elephants.  Another spoiler alert - there's some shoddy CGI so I mean just use your imagination people).  You can be sure I will be watching this multiple times this holiday season, and so will you if you have a heart.

As always, I'm Dani - and I love movies.

Aladdin (2019)

I obviously walked into this movie knowing that I would love it.  I give it an A+, 100%, and 12 stars (out of my 12 star rating system).  The new song Speechless?  Get the eff out of here.  Too good.  Chills all over the g darn place.  Stealer of the show?  Nasim Pedrad.  If she doesn't make you laugh you're the worst.

That being said, my movie-going pals had some things to chime in on.

Mary Arendt - 'Bummed she never got to put that hott red number on.  That's my fantasy.'

Kelly Dunn - 'Aladdin needed to loosen up a bit while singing, I mean - get into it man.'

Rachel Repetti - 'Wasn't sure about Will Smith as Genie, then it started and I was like - 'hell yeah.''

Leo Arendt - 'Thought it was gonna be really bad, now it's my favorite movie of all time - no lie.'

Bottom line - go see it.  More than once.  You know I will.

As always, I'm Dani - and I love movies.

Dani’s Dirty Thirty

Happy 30th Birthday Dan!! Love ya more than you love movies ;)

Angels in the Outfield - 1994

The film has mixed reviews online, but personally I loved it.

SPOILER ALERT! My name is Kelly, I'm one of Dani's best friends, and this is not a movie review for Angels in the Outfield. Really I just wanted to share how this blog idea got started, and it just so happened that we cooked it up during game 2 of the NLCS. I titled this Angels in the Outfield because when you live in Milwaukee and your baseball team is the Brewers you basically need angels in the outfield to get to October. Luckily for us we do have some pretty angelic guys in our out there...notably Christian Yelich who, although the jury is still out, is the favorite to be the National League MVP.

I digress, but that's okay because to be honest there isn't much else to this story. Our friends and I have talked about the idea of Dani blogging her movie opinions in the past, but on this particular night, with a little liquid encouragement (a lot), there was a sudden urge to get this thing going. Let's face it, if we hadn't secured the domain name "DaniLovesMovies.Com" THAT night it could quite possibly have be snatched up by someone else named Dani with our same brilliant idea (yea, right).

I wouldn't expect the traditional movie review from Dani...she's pretty easy to please, she loves to laugh (it's contagious), and feels all the feels. I wouldn't call her a movie "critic" per say...but she's honest as hell and pretty goddamn hilarious so i can't wait to see what she has to share.

Dani, she's all yours...don't disappoint your only fan.

Love,
The Weirdest Friend
